WANTED: Social Media Intern
Do you tweet and use Facebook every day, all day? Do you know the difference between audiences on Twitter and Facebook? Are you skilled at online community outreach and engaging mission-specific social communities? Do you have experience creating content and basic design for web pages and e-blasts?
The Pangaea Project is looking for a project-motivated social media intern who is passionate about youth leadership and social justice issues. The candidate will work with a small staff to develop clever and informative community outreach strategies using the latest social media tools.
Projects:
· Create regular content for Pangaea Project’s Twitter, Facebook, website, e-blasts and blogs
· Grow followers and supporters in communities through conversation, creativity and outreach
· Communicate and collaborate regularly with program and fundraising staff
· Create and update monthly reports on social media outreach strategy
· Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into outreach recommendations
Qualifications:
· Demonstrated knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, website and blogging tools
· Impeccable writing skills
· Experience researching background information for outreach projects
· Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media
· Able to follow a PR strategy and then implement
· Project-oriented with strong self-initiative
· Adaptable to organizational changes and new projects
· Experience in online fundraising a big plus
· Experience with basic HTML and web design (creating forms, inserting photos, updating webpages)
· Passion for social justice issues and youth leadership development programs
This is an unpaid internship. A minimum commitment of 90 days is required; preference will be given to candidates who can commit 6-9 months. The social media intern will volunteer between 10-20 hours per week, flexible schedule.
At the end of the internship, a successful candidate will gain the following skills:
· Experience in a small, growing nonprofit
· Experience working on PR, Marketing and Fundraising projects
· A demonstrated record of online community outreach using the latest social media tools
· A letter of recommendation from the Executive Director
